DESCRIPTION:The Tuggeranong Hills and Playgrounds 6 hour metrogaine was held on Sunday 
 4 August, 9:30 - 3:30pm. Competitors joined us in the southern suburbs of C
 anberra where they got to explore an intricate network of footpaths and pla
 ygrounds and the glorious views of the Brindabellas. Or they could partake 
 in the more bush sections of the course. \n
$45 full entry/ $36 concession.
  This is the one ACTRA event a year where solo entries are permitted. \n

From the northern suburbs, head down Tugge
 ranong Parkway/Drakeford Drive until Johnson Drive. Turn left here. Immedia
 tely following the roundabout at the junction of Johnson/Ashley Drive there
  is another roundabout (at intersection of Johnson Drive/Were Street). Turn
  left here into the Homestead.\n
Alternatively travel south along Monaro Hi
 ghway until Johnson Drive. Turn right on Johnson Drive, continuing straight
  at the first (immediate) roundabout. The next roundabout is the intersecti
 on of Johnson Drive/Were Street. Turn right here into the Homestead.\n

The Metrogaine will commence by w
 ay of a mass start at 9:30am on Sunday 4 August 2024, with a final briefing
  at 9:20am.\n
Registration will open at 8:00 am.\n
To register, one person 
 only per team to register and collect maps. That person will need to:\n

\n - Bring one completed indemnity form per team member.

Electr
 onic scoring: As this event is using the Navlight system of scoring, each t
 eam member will be issued with a wristband and tag upon registration.\n
You
  will also be given pre-marked maps, control descriptions, course setter's 
 notes and a small copy of the map to be used as a flight plan. We recommend
  that you arrive at least an hour prior to the start of the event to allow 
 enough time for final preparations and route planning. Each team must mark 
 their intended route on the flight plan and hand it in before starting. \n

 Map and Course Details\n
There will be one A3 map, 1:25,000 with 10 m conto
 ur interval. Magnetic north lines are marked on the map. Out of bounds area
 s are marked in purple shading. The course setters notes and control descri
 ptions have been printed on the back.\n
The event runs through the streets 
 and nature reserves of the Tuggeranong Valley with magnificent views of the
  Brindabellas. The hills on this course can be steep in places, especially 
 in the south-east section, and some of the creeks can be scrubby and thick.
  As such, long pants are recommended. There are numerous 80km/hr roads cris
 s-crossing the course – care will need to be taken by all competitors. The 
 map is printed on Teslin paper which is very tough and generally does not n
 eed to be covered in contact.\n
Water\n
Please bring enough water for Hash 
 House use and for at least 3 hours on course. We have marked on the map sho
 ps and water fountains where you can replenish throughout the event, as nee
 ded.\n
Other Information\n
Tuggeranong Homestead will be supplying hot food
  (including warm soup) from 3pm. Some tables and chairs will be provided bu
 t you may like to bring your own. \n

Summary of Event Rules and Scoring\n

 igational aids permitted are the maps we provide together with your compass

\n - Teams consist of 1 to 5 competitors and must remain within earshot
  of each other at all times. All members must simultaneously get to within 
 5m of each control point.
\n - All team members must punch their Navlight t
 ags at each control to score points.
\n - If a Navlight punch has failed, r
 ecord the three letter code visible inside the end of the punch.
\n - Compe
 titors must not enter out-of-bounds areas; gates must be left as found; sto
 ck must not be disturbed.
\n - The organisers may disqualify a team if it a
 cts against these rules or against the spirit of the event.

  retire a member at the hash house. This will finish that team's event. A n
